Why hire elopement photographers who also offer film making?

When searching for a way to capture their wedding day & emotions hiring wedding photographers is the obvious choice for most couples. But in recent years more and more couples are opting to add a wedding or elopement video to the mix. Especially short, crisp films with transitions, cinematic and atmospheric music and sound effects are of interest. They are usually referred to as Highlightfilms.

Why an elopement video is worth it

An elopement or wedding video summarises the best parts of your day in a film that is often between five and ten minutes long. Compared to photography, videography has the ability to transport emotions in a more extended and deeper way. You can actually hear what the couple is saying to each other in their vows, when they see each other for the first time on that day or when they experience an epic adventure together. It’s almost like you were there with them, just hiding around the corner.

And just imagine showing your friends and family your elopement video as a surprise because you didn’t tell them beforehand what you are planning to do. Imagine their faces when they see you flying over mountains in a helicopter and celebrating your love at over 2.300 metres of altitude. These are the moments in which we would love to be there with you and see those amazed faces for ourselves, hiding around the corner like we said earlier.

So if you are still thinking about whether or not you want to have an elopement video as well, this blogpost is for you.

Why it’s a good idea to hire the same creatives for photo and video

Like most of creatives, we started with wedding and elopement photography and over time we added videography to our packages. That’s not because we just realised back then that there is something like videography. Max has actually been doing videos since he has been a little kid. Recreating the news on television and documenting what he and his friends were doing that day… but we digress. For the last couple of years we introduced wedding and elopement videography into our business because we felt the urge to offer something that let you experience the memories of your special day in a completely different way. There are many reasons why it’s beneficial for couples to work with someone who provides both services:

    1. It’s all about teamwork

That means, if you hire us or any other photo/video team you can be assured that they will know exactly what the other person is doing and are always aware of each other during filming and photographing your adventure. Sharing a business means being accountable for each other. . We are a well-coordinated team and before every elopement we discuss together how the video concept should look like, which shots we will definitely need and how we want to capture it. We have the same approach which leads to an even greater experience for the two of you.

    2. We know each other inside out

We have been doing photo and video together for a very long time, we have been married since 2019 and we know each other’s routines during an elopement. You will never encounter us “fighting” for the best spot to capture the moment, we try to take turns, not disturb each other and we usually know what the other person is doing before he or she is even doing it. This will save a lot of time on your day!

    3. The same style across video and photo

Chances are you hired a photographer or videographer because you really like the style of their photos/videos. We guess we are right in assuming that you would really like your photos and videos to match and not have a completely different look. It can be tiring to go on a search for someone who offers the same style as the person you already booked for photo or video. And here comes the advantage if you hire a photo and video team. Our photos and videos share the same style and the colours match each other as best as they can. We know exactly in which settings we need to shoot in, so that we can create the same look in post-production.

We also use the same camera equipment and especially the same camera brands. We don’t want to get too technical but each camera brand has their own way how they show certain colours in their images. Just compare photographing the same picture with an iPhone and a Samsung smartphone and you will see the difference. By using the same camera brand we eliminate that “problem” as best as we can.

    4. Package prices

We all have a budget for our elopement (well most of us anyway) and who doesn’t like saving a bit here and there and then spending it on more adventures afterwards. Did we just hear you whisper “luxury chalet” and “helicopter”?

If you book your photographer and videographer separately you will not have the possibility to save a few quid because they of course cannot offer you combi packages for photo and video. But most elopement photographer and videographer teams have packages were you can combine photo and video and thereby save some money compared to when you book those packages individually.

At Nomadic Hearts for example you have the add-on option of a highlight film for all photography packages.

    5. One point of contact for everything

The last point before we let you carry on dreaming about your epic adventure elopement is a simple one: By hiring a photo and video team you only have one point of contact. Not only do you save time filling out an extra enquiry but after you have decided to book them communication becomes really easy. Whenever you want to discuss something with regards to both photo and video you only need to do one zoom call and have it all sorted out.

Pssst - just imagine for a second that you could even add an in-house full-service planning package to all of this. WOW! That would mean you have sorted planning, photography and videography in one go. Sounds too good to be true? Not in our ears and that’s exactly why you have the possibility to book planning, photo and video with us. Read more about why it’s worth it to hire a planner for your elopement here.
