Forest Elopement
Sometimes, elopements almost feel like home for us. You wonder why? Let us explain.
When we first met L&T via zoom, and they told us about their plans of renting a van and going on a tour through Germany we were instantly on board. And once they told us that their plan is to get married deep inside the Bavarian Forest we were hooked. Why are we so excited about the Bavarian Forest, this doesn’t sound like the Alps, right? Well, this Forest holds a special place in our hearts and especially in Lisa’s heart as she spent almost every holiday in her youth visiting her grandparents in this area. She knows so much about this place as her grandfather loved exploring the area and always took her with him on those adventures.
So now you know, why we were so excited about this forest elopement and why we couldn’t wait to start this adventure with L&T. When the day had finally come, we met them outside their campervan, fully relaxed and so excited to finally get going. While T was already dressed and only a few little details had to be put on his suit, L went back inside the van for her getting ready. The two of them wanted to celebrate this moment and early on during the planning process decided to have a first look right at their campsite. It was the perfect autumn day and there weren’t a lot of people at the campsite, so they could enjoy this moment in private.
After that we headed off towards our first destination of the day. A beautiful lake deep inside the forest, surrounded by small mountains and old trees. They had so much fun exploring the area and its wildlife and even the colder wind could not wipe their broad smiles from their faces. But that was far from it as another highlight of this forest elopement was just around the corner. L&T had decided to get officially married on their elopement day and in true fashion for a forest elopement they got married not in a boring old townhall but deep inside the forest. This is one of the few places in Germany where it is possible to get legally married outdoors and sitting on a platform overlooking the mountains and the forest, they committed their lives to each other. L also had a little surprise planned and after their picnic she brought out her little speaker and the two of them shared a private wedding dance only surrounded by the tall trees. It was such a magical moment, but this was not the last one on this forest elopement.
Because we had one more highlight planned for them and after a short little drive we arrived at the highest mountain of the Bavarian Forest. We literally took the last gondola to the top of the mountain in order to have the peak all to ourselves. And this plan really paid off and the two of them could explore the area at the top without a single soul in sight. We had so much fun braving the wind up there and we could have stayed forever. But then it was time to head back down as the sun slowly disappeared behind the clouds.
