Fall Elopement in the Dolomites
You know what? Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Don’t worry too much about what’s gonna happen next. The best part about this whole experience is that you can enjoy every single second of it with the person you love the most.
For T&G we initially had something different planned but the weather apparently had some other ideas in store and that’s why we had to shift towards plan B and make sure those two had the best days EVER! We absolutely succeeded if I may say so myself 😉
Staying flexible and not being to set for the one and only plan is key to an elopement in the Alps. You never know what the weather has in store and therefore you always need back-up plans no matter what season you are going to elope in. T&G originally wanted to spend some days with beautiful fall weather and enjoy the last days of sunshine in the Dolomites but then the weather turned and that’s why we decided to change things up a bit.
Both of them instantly said that they didn’t mind the rain and still wanted to have the best time ever. That’s why we kept the first part of our plan more or less unchanged. They both got ready separately and T had her hair and make-up done. We only opted for a more relaxed start into the day as it didn’t make any sense to get up for the non-existent sunrise. After both of them prepared themselves for the rain outside and we equipped them with some transparent umbrellas we headed outside to the lake where they had their first look before strolling around the lake. They were just laughing all the time as it apparently is “their thing” that there is always something that goes wrong and they learned to just accept it and not get bothered about it too much.
After strolling around the lake the rain unfortunately got heavier and we decided to have a quick break in their lovely chalet. Here the two of them enjoyed their breakfast and relaxed a bit. We had our eyes set on the weather forecast the whole time and so we knew that there will be a rain break approx. an hour later. You really need someone by your side who knows how quickly the weather can change in the Alps and can guide you towards making the right call. And that’s exactly what we did. So we set off towards a stunning alpine lake and the two of them could enjoy the very mystical weather with the fog drifting over the lake.
We just wrapped up the first day, when it starting raining again and we drove back to their chalet. When we started the planning process with T&G they said that they still wanted to do a private first dance and that’s exactly what we did when we arrived back at their accommodation. After that we left them to their private dinner before we met the next day. The weather forecast for today said no rain but unfortunately a lot of fog. Neither of us was disheartened by that and we all had the same goal - make this day even better than yesterday. And that’s why we still put on our hiking boots and started along the path. Alas the fog didn’t lift at all but this didn’t dampen the mood one bit and we were all laughing and smiling and T&G decided to share their private vows at the end of our hike. It was such a magical moment when they both stood at the edge of the cliff but you couldn’t see anything beyond them.
And then, then the sun did exactly what we have all been hoping for - it made an appearance and transformed the rest of the day into a beautiful fall atmosphere. We stopped at another alpine lake and T&G enjoyed every last bit of it.
Elopements like this always remind us why we love spending more than one day with our couples and what difference it makes when you come prepared, flexible and with the one intention to just have an amazing time!!
