Incredible Elopement in Appenzell
There are so many wonderful spots & areas in the Alps and to be honest, you can’t go wrong with either of them. J&J fell in love with the Appenzell area as they really wanted to have an authentic experience and they just loved the little town and everything it has to offer.
During our planning process when we had several different locations that we recommended to them, J&J didn’t need a lot of time to decide where they wanted to go. And when we finally met on their elopement day they instantly said that this area had something special and that they weren’t really interested in any insta-spots or anything more “popular”. This is the best thing about eloping in the Alps - they have something for everyone and if you want to choose epic mountain backdrops - fair enough, if you want to choose forest covered mountain tops - fair enough….
Okay let’s start into their day now, as I am sure this is what you are most interested in! J&J wanted to incorporate the town of Appenzell into their elopement photos and that’s why we planned their first look in the cute little streets of Appenzell. And because it was very early in the morning, we didn’t have any problems with too many people or cars driving through.
After they were finally back together, we started into the real adventure of the day. We took the first gondola in top of a mountain and they changed into their hiking boots at the top because we planned a small little hike to reach a spot where they wanted to take the first couple photos and, spontaneously, decided to do their vows as well. The perfect spot for you vows is something super personal and that’s why you should always have the final call on where to do those. Of course, we will have lots of suggestions for you but this spot must feel right to you and that’s exactly how this spot felt for J&J. After reading their vows, they celebrated their love and had a champagne toast, before we headed back down the mountain.
After a quick little break with coffee we started into our second adventure of the day. This time there were no mountains involved but a beautiful forest where the two of them could enjoy an incredible picnic and just enjoy each other’s company. When you have a full day packed with so many highlights, we always advise every couple to incorporate some kind of activity where you can relax a bit and of course, have something to eat.
After our break and with lots of new energy, we set off for our last adventure of the day - and it was an incredible one! When planning their day, the two of wanted to incorporate mountains, water and forest. We already ticked two of them off the list and so it shouldn’t be a big surprise that our last adventure took us to an alpine lake. We hiked for a few miles to be rewarded with a spectacular view of an alpine lake nestled between the mountains and with the sun shining - what a view!
While Max took a few more couple photos, Anne headed off to organize a boat for J&J on which they could enjoy the lake and let the sun warm their faces. It was such a magical atmosphere and because J&J chose a weekday and it was already a bit later, there weren’t too many people at the lake. There could not have been a better way to end our day and we almost felt sorry that it had gone by so quickly as we had so much fun with J&J and it was such a pleasure to be a part of their epic elopement in Appenzell.
